Virginia Fresh Match can make the difference between low-income families being able to eat fresh, nutritious foods and going without. As someone who works directly with these families, you have the power to connect them with a benefit that stretches their SNAP benefits and opens the door to affordable, fresh, local food across Virginia.
Virginia Fresh Match (VFM) is a SNAP matching program that doubles the purchasing power of SNAP — formerly known as food stamps— at participating farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and grocery stores across Virginia. When a customer spends their SNAP benefits at a VFM location, they receive matching funds to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables grown right here in Virginia. That means more affordable food, better nutrition, and stronger support for local Virginia farmers and small businesses.
Virginia Fresh Match is active in communities across the state. Wherever your clients live, there may be a participating market nearby.
